Please, please don't rent with this landlord. He was rude, disrespectful and went to great lengths to avoid making vital repairs. He sent friends of friends to plaster structural damage in the roof with a bucket of cement rather than do any real fixes.
Water constantly leaked through ceilings in multiple rooms, making rooms unliveable in the winter, spring and autumn. Due to his behaviour with neighbours we also lost access to the garden - they've had to take him to court multiple times. He also refused to answer attempts to contact him and the estate agent didn't help at all or keep track of anything - they forgot our move out date.
We also had gas leaks, regular electric outages, appliances regularly breaking (he once refused to replace a fridge for weeks because his mother had bought it for him) and terrible insulation in multiple rooms.
At the end of all of this, he wanted to put our rent up by £200 per month, despite this being well above market average for the area for similar properties (which would be in good repair compared to his).
