Oliver Cheung in Bloomsbury

On moving in we were rather alarmed by a gentleman in his mid 30s from the property knocking on our door to let us know our landlord was a 'crook' and he was notorious in the building for cutting corners. We spoke to him only a handful of times whilst living there to request permission to put curtains up and have a handful of repairs to the property that should have been done before we arrived (for example, on arrival, both ovens smoked excessively/ had a strong gas smell, and there were no working fire alarms for the first few months that we lived in the property). Whilst this was all rather sketchy, the reason Mr Cheung gets a 1 star review is because recently my new landlord needed a reference, rather than decline to give one (as per the law) he illegally called her up to tell her a pack of lies about me being incredibly high maintenance and claimed that on moving in, we immediately tried to report him to the local council for noise created by the neighbourhood. I'm glad I kept the paper trail for everything - as advised by the gentleman who knocked on our door on the first day.
