Honestly, this landlord should have zero stars. He also owned the house next door and during the times he was there, my life became hell as he and his family were noisy, invasive and had no regard for my comfort or wellbeing as their neighbour. Repairs were excessively slow. Over 2 years to fix a leaking roof. A year to replace the bathroom floor where I was left with bare concrete. Damp and mould after flooding never addressed. I was frequently left begging for help to the letting agent, who did little to assist me. Eventually, I threatened to take it to the council, at which point I was given my Section 21 notice. After 8 years of paying rent to this poor excuse for a landlord, I regret the day I ever set eyes on him. A deeply grim experience.

Ideal lettings in Torpoint probably aren’t the worst agents to deal with. They were easy to get hold of and maintained communication and the staff were always friendly and professional. Fees were just the usual, neither good nor bad. Problems arose when the landlord was slow to make repairs or refused to make repairs, then it was clear they acted on behalf of the landlord, end of.

I lived in this property for 8 years. It had a failed EPC at the time and was excessively cold and expensive to heat, lacking insulation and adequate heating. There were 2 problem areas prone to flooding, one from a bad design where the guttering ran into the inside of the corridor and another where water seeped under the skirting. The walls were un insulated stone in a north facing property which had no natural sunlight and dripped with condensation through winter and mould growth was uncontrollable. There was also no privacy from the house next door which the landlord also owned, making for an uncomfortable living experience at times. On the plus side, the location was great.

Fabulous location just a few minutes walk to the beach. Great local pub and a little village shop. There is a bus service but you do need a car to access shops etc but close enough to the city of Plymouth for commuting. Location, friends and work were the reasons I stayed and continue to stay in this area.
