Proud to Partner with Alchemy on the Making Student Advisers Programme

We’re excited to announce that Marks Out Of Tenancy has joined the Making Student Advisers programme as a specialist delivery partner, working in collaboration with Alchemy, the social impact company behind the initiative.
Alchemy’s mission is to ease the workload burden in student support roles and prevent burnout and overwork. Through co-creation and collaboration, they help organisations across higher education and the charity sector build capacity in student engagement and wellbeing. Their unapologetically inclusive, health-first approach resonates deeply with us at MOOT — and it’s a big part of why this partnership makes sense.
About the Programme
Making Student Advisers is an eight-month development programme for aspiring, early-career and experienced student advisers working across students’ unions, universities, colleges and other student-focused organisations.
The programme includes structured training, expert input, learning supervision and, for some participants, practical placements. It’s designed to give student advisers the knowledge, skills and confidence to thrive in emotionally demanding roles — and to make a lasting difference for the students they support.
Where We Come In
At MOOT, we know that student housing is one of the most complex and high-stakes issues advisers face.
It’s emotionally loaded, legally dense and often shaped by wider structural issues well beyond any single student’s control — rising rents, poor conditions, confusing contracts, or landlord pressure. And too often, advisers are left to navigate this alone, without specialist guidance or up-to-date training.
As a specialist delivery partner, MOOT will be delivering practical, grounded, and real-world housing training to support advisers across all experience levels. Whether someone is new to advice work, returning after a break, or looking to refresh their knowledge, our sessions will meet them where they are.
What Our Training Covers
Our contribution to the programme will include:
-
Foundational training on renters’ rights, housing law and student-specific tenancy issues
-
CPD sessions to support advisers building or refreshing their housing practice
-
Briefings on the Renters Reform Bill, using live case examples and discussion to unpack the real-world implications for students
Every session is interactive, up-to-date and focused on the real challenges advisers face in their work. Our aim is to help advisers feel confident, informed and supported — so they can better support their students.
A Partnership Rooted in Shared Values
Alchemy is known for pushing boundaries, championing wellbeing, and working with partners who bring not just expertise, but empathy and purpose. At MOOT, we share that vision. This collaboration is more than just training — it’s a shared commitment to supporting the people who support students, every single day.
We’re proud to bring our housing knowledge, energy and lived experience to the Making Student Advisers programme, and we’re even prouder to do it alongside a partner like Alchemy.
Here’s to clear advice, bold ideas, and better support for everyone.
