My worst experience with renting
Wants to inspect a lot more often than other landlords
refuses to fix anything or uses excuses and it just never gets done
demands proof of everything!
Agents that 'manage' the property - 'Town Rentals' - never leave you alone - breaking the 'quiet enjoyment law'
Landlord WILL charge you for any faults in the property whether they were there before or not.
- examples complained about bathroom floor and garden - landlord refused to do anything about it then when we moved out landlord tried to charge for damages
- also basement flooded on New Years day (ruining everything) had to call emergency plumber (as per advice on agents website and in tenancy agreement) landlord sent 'angry' letter demanding a large amount from the bill of the plumber. He pursued this and threatened court when we moved out - this was his responsibility - absolutely disgusting.
Agents allowed fire detector inspectors to come in without prior notice of entering - this is ILLEGAL and frightened me when I had 2 men enter my flat. They must provide at least 24hrs notice to allow anyone to enter with a key. ONLY time they can enter is in a case of emergency. This was not.
Whilst living there, our mental health went down hill from constant stress.
The agents or landlord never read emails correctly, therefore communication was horrendous. Even more stressful when they are constantly being demanding but not actually taking all of the information in correctly.
This property is cheap for a reason - don't fall for it.
