I moved into the flat 6 weeks after my roommates moved in so I cannot comment on the service of the landlord for move-in.
While living at the flat, communication was minimal with building manager (no contact was ever had with the landlord). We had a few concerns about our boiler which were addressed within reasonable timing. Otherwise we had few issues to raise to the manager or landlord. I should add that we never once had any inspection of the fire alarms; there also was no carbon monoxide detector in the flat.
We lived in the flat for 2 years before moving out. The process of getting our deposit back was a complete nightmare (with a few red flags we should have detected beforehand). The building manager:
- attributed previous damage to the flat to us;
- inflated the quote to repair the damage we did to the flat;
- refused to acknowledge the professional cleaning we organized prior to our move-out (because we didn't go with their cleaner);
- refused to acknowledge photo/video evidence we had of the professional cleaning and condition of the flat (garbage left behind and damaged walls etc) prior to move in;
- refused to produce receipts to prove the cost of the re-cleaning and repairs they ordered;
- claimed the check-out assessment was done by an independent, third-party despite evidence it appeared they were the same company.
Our dispute over the deposit took several weeks to resolve.
Although living at this flat was a lovely experience I would not recommend renting from this landlord. If you do rent at 2a Choumert Road, be sure to document as much as possible prior to move-in and move-out, and insist on walk-throughs!!
