6 bedrooms - 1 downstairs, 3 on first floor, 2 on second floor. 2 bathrooms.

When we moved in, the house had not been cleaned at all despite the landlord promising up a deep clean. We were also promised new living room furniture as, when we initially viewed the property, all the sofas had cigarette burns and stains on them but the sofas were not replaced until 2 months after moving in, after reminding the landlord of his promise several times. Cracks in kitchen tiles, the fridge was on a slant meaning water would collect in the drainage box causing a horrible smell every couple of months. All kitchen cupboard doors were hanging off as they were fitted incorrectly in the first place. Would send the maintenance man round every month or so to tighten the screws on the cupboard doors but because they were not properly fitted initially, would become loose again within a few weeks. We did not have a working dishwasher all year as every time we asked the landlord to send someone out to look at it he refused. Our washing machine would flood the kitchen if used. Skylight in kitchen would leak every time it rained, landlord sent a man out twice to fix it but the man only turned up once, not the second time. Despite us telling the landlord no one had turned up the second time he refused to send anyone else so we had to deal with leaks in the kitchen whenever it rained. Boiler leaked and landlord would not fix it as it “wasn’t an issue” so we had to have a bucket underneath the boiler which was replaced every day. Both showers leaked, with the first floor shower leaking through the ground floor smoke alarm (fire hazard). Landlord would blame the leaks on us “splashing water”. First floor toilet leaked waste water causing a large brown smelly stain on the tiles underneath it. Second floor toilet did not flush for most of the year. One of the second floor bedrooms had a leak whenever it rained and the other second floor bedroom had a faulty door, causing me to get locked in/out multiple times (the door would catch meaning it couldn’t be opened, landlord had to come at 3am to prise open the door with a spoon of all things). I’m probably forgetting things but these are the main issues we had. We would text/ring the landlord about a new issue at least once a week but every person he sent to “fix” issues was incompetent and nothing was ever fixed. If an issue arose, that issue would remain for the entire year. Also tried to charge us for cracks in kitchen tiles and damage in bedrooms that were present when we moved in, despite noting all these issues on our arrival and documenting with dated photographic evidence.
