Dirty, damp and full of mould. Broken appliances, stained bath and no locks on doors. Cooker wouldn't work for more than 20 minutes because the power would cut out and after complaining, the landlord insisted that it was fine and to just put it on a lower temperature, despite the temperature gauge being broken anyway. This meant that our food was burnt on the outside but raw in the middle. House was practically infested with spiders and obviously hadn't been cleaned before we arrived, despite Mr. Dong being adamant that it had. Renovation work had been promised over the summer period and wasn't done. Broken chairs had been fixed with cellotape. Mr. Dong didn't put the heating on until the October months and only for around 6-8 hours a day. Washing machine was mouldy and every surface was sticky. Both Dr. Jing and Mr. Dong lived next door so they were often hanging around the house or in the back garden. We stayed for a maximum of 3 days before finding emergency accommodation, as the house was cold and immediately made us feel like we were getting ill. Fridge was black with mould when we arrived and there was no hot water during the day. We only got luke warm water after consistently complaining about the issue after that.
