The flat was big and quiet, definitely wouldn't have been in our price range a few years ago.
There were issues we thought would be resolved before we moved in - furniture that needed removed and the walls repainted. The walls were all marked and scuffed, and in all rooms had evidence of damp. We were told it was historic.
Neither of these things was done before we moved in - they did eventually move the furniture to another flat, but despite asking repeatedly and the estate agents recommending to the landlord that the property was repainted, he refused.
The boiler didn't work for the whole of January, while we paid full rent and the damp got worse. The engineers recommended a new boiler as the existing one was very dated, but the landlord refused again and we had to wait for the engineer to order specific parts.
