The property had a base layer of dirt that was hard to shift, clearly in need of more serious decoration and care. The rooms were a mix - one was huge, one was tiny, and the two on the top floor were dominated by the roof overhang. The kitchen was again grubby, but fine. There was a fridge in the living room which was slightly incongruous. The garden was gross; old, dirty, patio furniture and overgrown, collapsed outhouse - would not sit there on even the sunniest of days.

The house was generally in a poor state of repair, for example, the front door frame was rotting and the exposed floorboards had some large gaps between them and gave us splinters. The single glazed windows weren't very good at keeping draughts and noise out. Outhouse roof had fallen in and door wedged into the frame so unusable for storage or as a "safe place" for parcels etc.
