Actually insane rental. No HMO licensing, overcrowded, in disrepair with unscreened tenants and multiple breaches of contract and safety issues. So many letting agents and LL think once they rent a property they can sit on their hands and watch the money roll in. God forbid you do some maintenance, treat tenants with respect and actually give people a livable property. The real issue is with unscrupulous landlords and rogue letting agents charging massively inflated rent and then doing the bare minimum to make their properties just about habitable, if you don't mind dealing with damp/condensation/mould, poor electrical, leaks, antisocial behaviour, harassment, eviction notices, dated interiors and everything being ignored for many months. You're afraid to even breath heavily on something for fear of marking it and having a huge chunk taken from your unprotected deposit.
