The property is not the best by any stretch of the imagination, but proximity to my University campus, cheap rent and bills make the situation a little lighter. However I would point out that older houses in areas like Selly Oak tend to show their age, recently the walls in our house entry have begun peeling, floors are extremely creaky and we’ve been dealing with sewage smells all year up until last month! Truth of the matter is you get what you pay for in some of these cheaper, ‘undesirable’ properties and just have to hope your housemates and letting agent help smoothen the experience!
