Tenancy review for 39 Tottenham Road in Charles Dickens, Portsmouth rented from Andy Tindall

The landlord was so unhelpful, rude and incompetent. Myself (personally) and my housemates were harassed by The landlord, his friend and his daughter who tried to ‘evict’ us out of her ‘dads house’. They barged in and 3 of them hanged up on me alone in the house, when I asked them to leave, he told me he would rip up my tenancy. When I told the agency, all they had to say was that I shouldn’t have raised my voice.... I was a girl alone with 3 people and all they could say was I shouldn’t have basically defended my self. This is one of many instances. We had no washing machine for 3 months. Not enough black bins for a household of 7 tenants. Apparently he’s ordered the bin from Portsmouth city council since October 2019 and we STILL don’t have it). I know laughable.we weren’t informed of a pre existing mice issue which the previous tenants told the landlord about but when we moved in they tried to blame us not knowing we had contact with previous tenants. An awful experience. Corona saved us from having to endure the full tenancy but he still got his full rent for the whole year. Unfortunate as he definitely does NOT deserve it.

When we moved In the house was dirty!the landlord claimed a ‘professional cleaner’ had cleaned it and hour before we moved in but The fridge & freezer was mouldy the rooms were dusty! There was nice dropping on appliances! The garden was awful and the front was full of water from previous tenants which the landlord couldn’t even be bothered to move/ clean up. This isn’t something a cleaner would miss! We told the agent and Landlord and were just hit with excuses! We took pictures of everything but all they kept saying was there’s nothing we can really do now! Our parents ended up helping us with cleaning the appliances and cleaning the garden and all the dirt left by previous tenants. Just awful.

Area was quiet, other students and family. 18mins walk to uni. Can sometimes be hard to find parking. Uni bus isn’t close. Close to farm foods , Asda ,savers and other shops
