The landlord is as described by others in the comments. I would describe him as a psychopath/narcissist. His assistant Alec could not be more rude either. Racist and both are extremely unprofessional, immature and Ian has no ethics whatsoever as a landlord/person. I was told the room would be cleaned before my arrival. Along with the house it is the genuinely filthiest place I have ever entered. It has a very strong smell too. I cleaned and bought products, including a mattress protector. I have proof that I asked if he would refund me before I bought these items. He has not refunded me a penny. Because I wanted the place clean, and despite maintaining calm diplomatic sympathetic communications in person and messages, he lost his cool several times, screamed about me to another tenant, and muttered to himself frequently. He then asked if I had mental health issues, because I said I found it difficult to sleep due to the smell and condition. My window did not open at all. He tried to claim the problem was with me til he tried it himself and realized it was broken. It was not completely closed and nor possible to open it, so I could not get any fresh air til he fixed it and had to live with the overwhelming noise due to the room facing the very noisy main road. Ian Spedding does not care about people and is well aware his assistant Alec does not clean and makes racist comments. According to the reviews here Ian himself is racist, so that figures. The fridge is full of mold and diabolically disgusting as is the middle bathroom. Now no area is available for the housemates to relax in-even that area, the conservatory, is used a bedroom.

Extremely strong odour, filthy beyond description, dated, un-cared for, broken down, dark and dismal.
