Chandos Road is a little gem in the city. Still many student houses, but the area is very well located

★★☆☆☆ – Vibrant but Challenging Area to Live In
Brixton Hill and Acre Lane have a lot of character and energy, but living here came with significant challenges that made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe at times.
The area is very noisy — loud shouting is common, and disturbances are frequent. Brockwell Park hosts regular festivals, and while the events are great for the community, the music can be heard throughout May and June, even from inside your home. It’s not ideal if you value peace and quiet.
Safety was a major concern. I didn’t feel comfortable walking alone, especially at night. There were regular reports of serious crimes, including murders, and car break-ins were a recurring issue.
On the practical side, the cost of living here is unnecessarily high. Council tax is steep, permit parking prices are excessive, and the implementation of LTNs (Low Traffic Neighbourhoods) has made driving and parking more frustrating than helpful.
Coming out of Brixton Station as well is an assault on all your senses.
The area has potential, and there’s a strong sense of community in parts, but the combination of safety concerns, noise, and high costs made it a difficult place to live long-term.

Not a bad area, seemed safe to me. Might be a bit dodgy walking around at night but most places are. Bath overall is a very safe place to live and Twerton high street may be a bit run down but it is safe.

So close to Ashton court, easy to cycle in to the city centre and not far from the local shops in long Ashton
