A new landlord bought this place in Feb 2020 and it immediately went downhill.
The new landlord only cared about money. They fired the long-standing cleaners and hired new ones for 1/3 of the hours, then ignored students' complaints when the communal areas became very dirty as a result. They walked in on students in their bedrooms without warning. They told students rent was due before student loans had arrived, and threatened late payers with legal action. They refused to let students who had to go home because of coronavirus out of their contracts. They attempted to use illegal contracts to remove students' rights - license agreements, when tenancy agreements are the correct one. They were late protecting student deposits, which must be placed in a DPS within 30 days of receipt by law. DO NOT RENT HERE

A generally ok student hall with 40 rooms. There were enough kitchen and bathroom facilities to go round. Nothing fancy, but the price was cheaper than any other private student hall in York.

Area rating: 4

Nice and close to the university. A bit far from town, but a few supermarkets nearby and bus routes on Hull road. Still not worth it due to landlord problems.
