The neighbours were also difficult with our landlord and downstairs neighbour getting into many shouting matches from our home.

7 minutes to Aldi, 10 minutes to the centre of town. Sits on a main road, so could hear larger traffic going by. Neighbors are fairly friendly. Bus stops a minute and a half away.

The neighbourhood is a mixture of locals and students. There was rarely noise issue from the majority of the residents. Although lacking aesthetic charm, Abbey Court was safe.
At the start of the tenancy there were regular police visits to the area. These reduced half way through the tenancy.
There is a cat called Artemis that sits on the walkway. He is quite friendly once you earn his trust.

Nice, friendly neighbors. Pretty quiet neighborhood. 12 minute walk to town, 2 minutes to Aldi.

Couldn't be closer to local amenities, less than 5 mins walk to the centre of town and great view of the sea. Rest of the houses are rentals and holiday homes so very quiet. Flats in the block can be a pain with rentals as they don't seem to care much about residents.

Five-minute bike ride to town centre is all downhill. You can go via Bridge Street, Viaduct Walk, or through the forest along Lade Braes. Close to Aldi, M&S, and Morrisons. Quiet street near Canongate Primary School. House is on a corner so the only neighbour is an elderly woman.

I enjoyed living in this area as it's close to the Botanic Gardens and Hallow Hill. There aren't many student flats nearby, which might be a positive or a negative for you.

Family-oriented area, very close to local shops and bus links. Neighbours are friendly.

★★★★★★★★★★
Lovely neighbourhood and good location. Close to Aldi etc, lovely neighbours, 15 mins from East Sands.

★★★★★★★★★☆
5-10 minute walk to aldi, 15 minutes into town. Close enough during lockdown as didn't go into town much, not sure if the location would be ideal if I was in town more. Is also close to science buildings (5-10 minutes).

★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Far from the university buildings for the price but at least it was close to the beach. The neighbours at the time were nice but they've moved out now too.

You will be living above an abusive alcoholic, named Ross. This man is without a doubt the worst thing about the flat and will cause you to develop pretty intense anxiety around sleep due to his unrelenting bass, domestic disputes and constant partying.

"Moving in to number 7? Sorry about the guy below, he's a real nightmare to listen to and I don't even live above him!"

This was among a few of the pieces of advice I was given by another resident of the building, who had previously had altercations with Ross.

I called the police on this man a grand total of four times during my stay. I very quickly realised that there is absolutely nothing the police are willing, or perhaps able to do, about this noise problem. I called them in the midst of several incredibly intense screaming, throwing and abuse matches between him and a female "friend" living in the apartment at the time. I haven't quite experienced anxiety and stress like being awake at 4:30am whilst my neighbours fight it out yet again.

They haven't fought aggressively since earlier this year, hooray! It seems they found a new way to get along, which is having constant parties which seem to span multiple days and nights with an assortment of friends, all singing in the most cracked, gravelly and disgusting voices I've ever heard.

As I write this paragraph with earplugs in and studio headphones on, I can hear their singing and partying that has been going on since around 10am this morning. This, of course, makes the house completely unsuitable for students as the arguments and shouting and music will prevent you from any focus. That is of course, If you are even able to focus after an endless horror of nights with no sleep slowly driving you into more and more of a sleep deprived nightmare. I'm very thankful to my girlfriend for allowing me to spend nights at her place just to get some quiet.

You may think establishing a dialogue with this man will help - it will not. I have attempted to talk to Ross about reducing his noise between 12am - 8am and every time he either refuses, threatens me for the suggestion of asking him to be quiet or apologises meekly "I'm sorry man, I didn't know I was being loud". That last response, hilariously, was at 6am.

This makes the chance of a good nights sleep essentially impossible.

In this final month before I depart, I went down during one of these forced insomniac episodes with the intention of having a real long chat with Ross. We talked on his porch for about an hour, 3am to 4am. He spun me his tale of how the world didn't treat him right and that's why he is the way he is. Stories of how he goes on these days long benders and doesn't remember anything. Sad, to be sure, but I wasn't informed that I'd be living on an episode of Nightmare Neighbours: Off The Rails edition when I moved in. He rounded this conversation off with the firm assertion that he really does not care whether or not I sleep and that he will continue to "live his life" and "have a good time with his friends" at any hour of the day he pleases. Oh and could I please not walk around my house so loud during the afternoon.

The company he most notably keeps is a Glasweigan woman with one of the most rasping, gravelly voices I've ever heard. That style of diction becomes very hard to listen to at 5am singing as loud as she can to Hotel California. That song, by the way, being one of the only 10 or 11 songs that will be played below you on a cyclical hellish playlist.

Please, for all that is holy, do not move into this flat. I've tried to warn you, I care about your sleep schedule, I want you to be happy. Don't make the mistake I did. This flat is not worth £450 a month per person, I genuinely would not stay in it again if was paid £450 a month.

Very pleasant and quiet suburdan area. Near a bus stop, short walk from supermarkets. It was quite far from the centre of St Andrews, but the price suitably reflects that.

★★★★★★★★☆☆
The property is located with only a short walking distance to the main three streets of St. Andrews and is an even shorter distance from the botanic gardens and the lade braes walk, which are perfect for morning strolls. 6 Largo Road offers friendly neighbours and great surroundings on a quiet street.

★★★★★★★★★☆
Lovely neighbours of students one side and an old couple in their 80s on the other. Very Quite good for students who don't want too many parties
10 November 2020
★★★★★★★★☆☆
Considerable noise from main road but otherwise nice and close to the botanic gardens.
10 November 2020
★★★★★★★☆☆☆
Very close location to town centre. Not very much street noise. Only complaint is a thin ceiling to the flat above making considerable noise.
9 November 2020
★★★★★★★★☆☆
the only positive aspect of the flat was that it was relatively close to the town and shops
28 September 2020
★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
The neighbourhood is nice and residential, however it is not in the centre of town and the rent was very expensive for a house in this area.
22 September 2020
★★★★★★★★★☆
quiet street, great location, very close to all that town has to offer, and 7-10 minutes walk to north haugh. only drawback is students sometimes loud when walking back to mcintosh hall. parking always available on street. lovely park at the end of the street.
22 September 2020
★★★★★★★★☆☆
great location! market street is about as loud as you'd expect - people early morning and late at night, seagulls through the day, cars all hours of the night. got used to the noise quite quickly. very close to shops and arts buildings.

★★★★★★★★★★
You can roll out of bed and into the union. The bass from 601 was audible in my room but this is actually quite good if you want to be able to hear Cascada without leaving your bed
4 July 2020
★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆
Nice to be near the beach, far away from literally everything else, no good transport links.
25 June 2020
★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
The local are would be relatively nice, however it is completely ruined by the neighbours being, while friendly, very loud and with very low hygienic standards and practiced no social distancing during the lockdown. Trash can easily pile up in the bins if the tenants don't take out them out regularly. Noise is usually limited at during the morning and afternoon, but sometimes can go on until the early morning. All of this is more relevant for someone who is planning to work mostly from home.
24 June 2020
★★★★★★★★☆☆
One of the best locations. It is about 3 minutes from the gym, 7 from North Haugh. This is perfect if you are a science student. Also, there is a bus stop right outside which is handy when the weather is bad or you want to go some place else.
24 June 2020
★★★★★★☆☆☆☆
It is a 5-10 minute walk from town. The street is okay lit, but it often has high school kids walking around who can be quite bothersome. Personally, I don't feel safe walking back to the place too late at night because of the kids.
24 June 2020
★★★★★★★★★☆
Could have been a bit closer to town, otherwise perfect, friendly neighbours, people in building generally got along well although some like to play loud music way too late.
24 June 2020
★★★★★★★★★☆
Nice area, quiet but close to main town so easy to get to classes and lectures for university.
24 June 2020
★★★★★★★★★★
So close to everything. For St Andrews you have everything that you could want from this house. Private parking spot, access to Lade Braes path, off of South Street but still very private, your own garden. Quiet local neighbors and the bus station 5 minute walk away. Everything is accessible by foot.
15 June 2020
★★★★★★★★☆☆
The area is quiet and near a bus stop and the East Sands Leisure Centre. Roughly a 15 minute walk from town.
11 June 2020
★★★★★★★★★☆
About a 20 to 25m walk away from the North Haugh, 10 to 15m from shops in town or Aldi. Easily managable for me but slightly further out than some properties in St Andrews. Lamond Drive is a nice street with a park just across the road, and East Sands is very nearby.
31 May 2020
★★★★★★★★★☆
perfect central location, really the only thing the flat has going for it and clearly the reason it is so egregiously priced.
22 May 2020
★★★★★★★★☆☆
Hope Street is incredibly central - it takes about 3 minutes to walk to Tesco and even less time to get to the Student Union. We have access to a neighbourhood garden/park situated between Howard Place and Hope Street.
We didn't have any major issues with neighbors - the surrounding flats (in 9 and 11) were occupied by students so it could sometimes get loud if they hosted parties, but no more than our flat. There's also a self-proclaimed Unpaid Bin Warden who pushes your bins into your doorway if you don't bring them in quick enough after bin collection which is a bit passive aggressive, but manageable.
13 May 2020
★★★★★★★★☆☆
Less than 5 minute walk to m&s and aldi and a 7 minute walk to south street so relatively close to town. A few minutes away from the post office and shell petrol station
2 May 2020
★★★★★★★★★★
2 minute walk to town/union/bus station/west sands, 5 minutes to North Haugh, very convenient location
2 May 2020
★★★★★★★★☆☆
About 10/15 min walk from town. Night-bus will drop you off close enough. No problems in the area so far. Shortcut through Glebe road and the sheds gets you into town faster that going down Lamond Drive.
2 May 2020
★★★★★★★★☆☆
Nice and leafy local area, quiet neighbours, easy access to town and the university. Nice riverside location too, and easy access to the beach at East Sands.
2 May 2020
★★★★★★★★★★
St Andrews is a lovely place to live, and the location of our house was very close to town and the University.
It is such a shame that the letting agency could not be as nice.
2 May 2020
★★★★★★★★★☆
Extremely close to everything; you’re no more than five minutes by foot to classes in town, Tesco, Taste ... The convenience really makes this house a huge win. We are also situated next to two eateries: Greyfriars Inn and Ziggys. They’re usually quiet, but we do hear Greyfriars whenever they dump out their glass.
2 May 2020
★★★★★★★☆☆☆
The flat is in a prime location, just by the West Port on South Street. Very close to the shops, bus station and union, it is in prime location in the heart of St Andrews. It is facing the shell garage, meaning that it gets quite a lot of noise in the day from cars, and at night from drunk students walking to and from the union. This is a prominence feature of the building also, with flat parties being common on many nights of the week.
2 May 2020
★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Close to local Aldi and Morrison’s, very useful for doing cheaper shopping than in the center of town. 1 mile walk to lectures either in North Haugh or in town. Neighbours ignore you, generally hate students. Local councillors don’t help with the “we hate students and HMOs” meetings for the community. You will struggle interacting with locals if you’re a student because they’re naturally inclined to dislike you - despite the fact we are essential for the local economy.
4 April 2020
★★★★★★★★☆☆
The house is located 3mins away from Morrisons and Aldi. There is a bus stop 2mins away from the house.
27 March 2020
★★★★★★★★★★
Lovely neighbourhood. St Andrews is such a beautiful town. Where the flat is is within walking distance of everywhere that is needed. No more than a 20 minute walk to all the main amenities that you would need.
3 February 2020
★★★★★★★★★★
Ideal location for going to classes or sports centre, with a pleasant surrounding area.
10 December 2019
★★★★★★★★☆☆
Nelson Street is a great area - about 8 minutes walk from the Students' Union and also to ALDI and Marks and Spencer. Mostly friendly neighbours, except one house that was relentless with unnecessary complaints and general rudeness.
2 September 2019
★★★★★★★☆☆☆
The area is nice and quiet, a river runs nearby. The property is a 6-8 min walk away from town center.
20 August 2019
★★★★★★★★★★
Wonderful location on the scores. most beautiful spot. Had it not been for the landlord I would have never wanted to move out.
14 August 2019
★★★★★★★★☆☆
5 min walk to town which is great, v close to whey pat and londis. Detached house so don’t have to worry about noisey neighbours.
13 August 2019
★★★★★★★☆☆☆
The neighbourhood is lovely. Very close to botanic gardens and there is a quick walk to class
12 August 2019
★★★★★★★★★★
Really lovely neighbours who were always happy to take delivery of packages etc. Also, really close to East Sands which made for some lovely walks along the beach, particularly during exam season.
25 July 2019
★★★★★★★★☆☆
Obviously, we all love St Andrews, and North Street was a wonderful place to be for two years.
25 July 2019
★★★★★★★★★★
Central St Andrews, perfectly safe. Only issue was the lane wasn't fully lit and difficult for delivery drivers.
24 July 2019
★★★★★★★★☆☆
There are good bus links into St Andrews and Dundee, with a bus stop at the end of the street. It is about an 8 minute walk to Aldi however Costcutter and Spar are just around the corner. There are some elderly neighbours, and as such loud parties or loud music are not allowed.
24 July 2019
★★★★★★★★☆☆
The house is in a very nice location. There are a few student houses nearby but most of the houses are local residents.
The house is about a two-minute walk from Aldi and about a fifteen minute walk from the North Haugh or the centre of town which was very convenient.
24 July 2019
★★★★★★★★☆☆
Very quiet, nice fields at the back of the house so you can see the stars from the back bedrooms.
24 July 2019
★★★★★★★★★★
Very quiet and pretty, on the far end of Lade Braes walk. Multiple good cats in the neighborhood who come to visit.
24 July 2019
★★★★★★★★☆☆
A bit of a walk (10-15 minutes from centre of town) but a quiet area and with access to supermarket options.
24 July 2019
★★★★★★★★★★
Very quiet and picturesque local area. Great neighbours and very close to the shops. Easy transport links to other areas.
24 July 2019
★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆
Close to shops, but the cafe next door puts their outside tables directly next to the living room windows, with little privacy inside.
23 July 2019
★★★★★★★★★★
The area was great. Pretty close to Tesco and right near Lade Braes. It was usually pretty quite and nice, not too many students making a ruckus outside the house
23 July 2019
★★★★★★★★★★
St. Andrews is amazing and it’s in a great location. Close to everything you need and parking right next to door.
23 July 2019
★★★★★★★★★★
Market street is a very good location to live. No problems with this. Close to everything.
23 July 2019
★★★★★★★★★☆
Location is all that’s going for this flat to be, very central right behind the West Port
23 July 2019
★★★★★★★★★★
Good location, nice neighbours, about a 15 minute walk from town centre, five minute walk to main shops
23 July 2019
★★★★★★★★★★
Centre of town, so close to shops (not the cheap ones like Asda though). No complaints from or about the neighbours, apart from other flats not taking the bins out
23 July 2019
★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Very loud neighbours but fairly safe neighbourhood. Quite far from any shops but still within walking distance. Bus stop is a few houses down which is helpful but means a lot of noise from buses and coaches.
23 July 2019
★★★★★★★★☆☆
The house is right in the middle of town, which is perfect if you want to be able to get to most places quickly. This did also mean that it could be quite loud at night, as it is near the Union and the neighbours would sometimes have loud parties.
23 July 2019
★★★★★★★★★★
Its about a ten minute walk from the town centre. Although Abbey Walk is an artery out of St Andrews, it is relatively quiet. St Andrews is a good place to live and to study.
23 July 2019
★★★★★★★★★☆
Very close to Aldi, which is perfect. 10-15 minute walk into town or 5 minutes on a bike. Buses pass by the end of the road.
23 July 2019
★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆
not far from aldi and very near costcutter. very near the school so children are often around.
23 July 2019
★★★★★★★☆☆☆
Good location 10 mins walk from the town centre, about 10 mins walk to aldi for food shops. Student area but had no problem with noise etc, nice park opposite the house and nice walk by the Kinnessburn.
23 July 2019
★★★★★★★★☆☆
A bit of a walk down Largo Rd to town (10-15 Mins), but being next to Morrisons and M&S was more than adequte compensation. Very quiet and peaceful neighbourhood, it felt like a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the town centre.
22 July 2019
★★★★★★★★★★
Great location near Aldi, only 10 mins walk from town and North Haugh. If you have a car, there is always space on the road right outside.
7 June 2019
★★★★★★★★★★
Great, central location in St. Andrews. Corridor shared with several flats, but kept in a good condition and neighbours have been wonderful too.
2 April 2019
★★★★★★★☆☆☆
This is a nice area and extremely central, but seemed less secure than other places I lived in St Andrews. Random people wander through the apartment complex a lot for some reason, and strangers tried to come in through our patio doors once. There was also a bike locked next to my bedroom window which got stolen in the middle of the night.
2 April 2019
★★★★★★★★★★
This is a really lovely part of the town center. On the nice cobblestone bit of Market Street, quiet, close to everything.
2 April 2019
★★★★★★★★★★
This is a great bit of the town center. It's super close to everything in town, without being loud.
2 April 2019
★★★★★★★★★☆
Very nice and quiet street with lots of students. A very short walk to the town centre- about 10 minutes. Close to M&S and Aldi, and Morrison's and Tesco are an even distance away.
24 November 2018
★★★★★★★★★☆
Great location in town. Close to shops, the Scores, and most of academic buildings (at least for the humanities).
9 November 2018
★★★★★★★★★☆
I liked living just over the Kinnessburn, it meant we were in a residential area so not too busy but we weren't far from town at all (2 min walk to South St); and I often walked to Morrisons/Aldi with my flatmates because it was closer than if we were living in town.
8 November 2018
★★★★★★★★★☆
lovely lovely neighbours on one side and across the road, quiet otherwise and not far from town
8 November 2018
★★★★★★★★☆☆
Really good location, close to shops, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. and right in town.
8 November 2018
★★★★★★☆☆☆☆
St Andrews is lovely and the property is a short walk from both the beach and ALDI. There is also a corner shop at the end of the road.
7 November 2018
★★★★★★★★★☆
Quite far out of town but I personally quite like that, and it was right near Morissons and Aldi
7 November 2018
★★★★★★★★★☆
Very nice - lovely quiet area though has loud flats opposite which can be rather annoying.
7 November 2018
★★★★★★★★☆☆
The house is in a quiet, residential area that is about 10 minutes from the centre of town.
7 November 2018
★★★★★★★☆☆☆
St Andrews is lovely! Never had any issues with neighbours, a park is nearby, you're close to the see, and you're not far from a cornershop.
7 November 2018
★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Close to town but off of street, which meant that people passing by would use bins for rubbish - meaning that the binmen then wouldn't collect bins as they were overflowing. Also due to its proximity to pubs in town, people would drop ciggarettes and cans down the steps, making the outside area messy and dank. Neighbours were rubbish at taking bins in, leading to rubbish everywhere and the council putting a notice on their bin warning them they would stop picking them up. These neighbours may have left by now though.
7 November 2018
★★★★★★★☆☆☆
St Andrews is lovely. Lamond drive is a little out of the way but as someone studying and working in town I rarely had more than a twenty minute walk to get anywhere. Plenty of parking on the street and directly in front of the flat - though other are parked there often. Some of the neighbours will leave sharp rocks behind your tires or deliberately block you in if you park further down the road, though.
7 November 2018
★★★★★★★★★★
An amazing location in the center of town, right across from the university library..
7 November 2018
★★★★★★★★★☆
Right in the centre of town and location was excellent. Slightly noisy at some points but that is what you get in student town.
7 November 2018
★★★★★★★★★★
Really friendly and quiet neighbourhood. Close to town. Safe with outside door to building.
7 November 2018

Neighbourhood was fine, little far out of town. Quiet at night. We had occasional problems with neighbours.

Student-y area, close to town. Nice neighbours. Good view out the back window into town.
