Neighbours are very loud and drunk most evenings, walls are so thin and can hear dog barking constantly, neighbours up at 3am every day. Other neighbours kids playing on trumped and screaming until late at night. Neighbours always arguing over parking and calling the police. Very very unfriendly and stressful place to live!!!!!!

The best part about this place is the neighbours. On the left is a awesome lady, great to talk to and I will miss her the most. On the right is a lovely family but they can shout time to time. The neighbours behind us are from hell. Honestly, I once accidentally banged a door and she started screaming threats through the wall about knocking our heads off. They scream 24/7 and have naughty kids and squeaky doors. So prepare to be disturbed constantly. There's also a school up the road. So everyone parks here. To pick their kids up, don't leave the house between 8am and 9:15am and then again at 2:30-3:30pm because you simply won't be able to leave the area for traffic. Kids over the road constantly stare into the house. So keep the blinds shut. We grew the hedge into an arch to help with this too and also grew it tall! Keep it tall! One of the neighbours have 5 cars. All parked on this road. So if you think you're getting a parking space you're wrong. We've had our space taken up for the past 3 weeks by one of her cars she won't move and hasn't moved in a while. We are fed up. overall don't bother unless you're broke and need cheapish digs (if the landlord puts up the rent it isn't worth it at all) sage yourself the pain of the neighbourhood and from Bramleys and don't bother.

- do not believe the positive reviews, they beg for reviews whenever a negative one is posted, and I also suspect they get their friends and employees to write them too -

My fire alarm was tested 3 months ago, a new one needed to be ordered as it wasn't working and it has not yet been replaced.

My hob and microwave oven have been broken since the 23rd December, I reported it to the emergency number, heard nothing back. The next day I rang again and the guy from Vanilla rang me back, laughed at me down the phone as it was Christmas eve and said no one would be coming to do anything with it til at-least after the new year. It has now been 5 months and I have heard nothing on the matter.

When viewing the property, you are not shown the clothes washing facilities, this is due to their being 1 washer and 1 dryer, which doesn't seem too bad until you realise that theres 12 flats (most of which are rented to couples) meaning they are never free to use.

When the dryer is free, it's probably because it's broken. We went 2 months without a dryer (on just one of the occasions). This led everyone to have to dry clothes in their flats over winter that are cold because the radiators turn off automatically based on temperature elsewhere. Drying the clothes in the flat has caused me to have severe migraines throughout my tenancy.

Don't believe the pictures they show online. Most of the pictures are actually taken in Flat 1 (the biggest flat). I had one rushed viewing back in march of 2020 before the lockdown, and due to the previous tenant being in the flat at the time I was not shown the storage. The pictures on the website make it seem like everyone gets a wardrobe, this is not the case.

The parking is horrendous (also not shown to you on the viewing) there is only 8 spaces to the back of the property, which is not sufficient for the 3 lots of flats that use it bearing in mind the minimum of 12 occupants in my flat alone.

Vanilla also allow their workers to fly tip! When I moved into the property we were given new sofas (lovely I thought) however the old ones were left outside the 3 properties for months. Not only did this attract vermin and mould, it also made pulling out of the parking spaces dangerous as they blocked the line of sight of down the hill.

Their app is useless, if you report problems on there it gets ignored and if you report by emailing or calling you get lied to.

My flat flooded a few months back (due to pipe issues they've known about for years) I reported this to the emergency number and never had Vanilla check on me to see if I had any damage in my flat or to my belongings.

DO NOT RENT WITH VANILLA, they don't care about your well being or even basic needs of feeding yourself.

Local area is lovely. Close to shops and public transport links are good too. Nice area.

Longwood is a small suburban part of Huddersfield, and lies to the west of the town, and is very close to the stunning Colne Valley area. As such, there are numerous country walks within walking distance of the property. The area is very quiet considering it is close to a town. We often felt we were living in the countryside. The street itself is a little known narrow lane, and as such, the only traffic tends to be other residents accessing their properties. The immediate neighbours were all very friendly and helpful, and I got the feeling they everyone looked out for each other.
Amenities: an award winning fish and chip shop was a short walk away, along with plenty of bus stops into the town, and a handy Co-Op convenience store. Doorstep delivered milk was also available from the local milkman. Broadband speeds were good, and there was space for one car (on street parking) at the front of the house.

Quiet and near to the university so good, had no problems living round here except a few parties every so often but that's expected.

I can't really fault the neighbourhood the surrounding area is nice, it's opposite a big park and is walking distance to the town centre.
