Neighbourhood and local area reviews for renting in United Kingdom

The house was very close to the local train station, food shops, university and high street.

Area for the first 3years(2015-2018) or so was quite ok, quiet with friendly neighbours but things changed especially after PureGym opened across the road... things got quite a bit different after, especially in the morning and afternoon. Some of the newer neighbours have a habit of getting annoyingly load Friday-Saturday over night(loud TV, karaoke God knows what).

It is a 30 second walk to selly oak train station, 4 minute walk to aldi and a 10 minute walk to uni so the location is pretty much perfect.

Area was student area so not the best place but was safe and quiet enough. Free roadside parking.

Great Neighbourhood. Close to all transport and shopping. Safe place to walk at night.

Close* to the shopping park, which has a range of shops such as carpetright and shoezone. Not too far* from Aldi, or Sainsbury’s if you’re a snob. Unfortunately we didn’t get to experience the delights of Selly Oak, as our front door kept breaking and we were regularly trapped inside.


*I should stress that Heeley Road is approx 500 miles long, and this house is at the end. Rumour has it The Proclaimers based their hit song on this street.

Ickleton is a fairly quiet village, although the narrow B-road running through it (including Abbey Street) can get very busy/grid-locked at peak hours, resulting in many a beeping car horn and angry shouting! It's a 20-MPH zone, but this is largely ignored by drivers racing through the village. There's one small shop, where personally I didn't find the management/staff particularly friendly and a pub that should be so much better than it actually is. Many of the Ickleton residents I found to be a pretty insincere bunch, with a few two-faced types thrown into the mix.

Nothing much to say about the neighborhood. It's nice, quiet, but also lively and with plenty of shops. Angel is lovely.

I love Bangor, the Church street is relatively quiet and I’ve got to know my lovely neighbours really well.

Neighbours were very nice. Area it’s self is very handily situated to uni and shops. Parking is easy enough.
