Northwood in United Kingdom

Landlord used Northwood Southampton who were also crap, spelling names wrong constantly, giving us dud keys ect. There were okay at contacting landlord for repairs. The agents also asked us about property details when doing viewings when we were leaving

The letting agency was Northwood Aberdeen. They were sometimes slow to reply (3-4 days) but mostly pleasant to deal with.
There was an incident and the front door had to be repaired, for which we didn't get a choice of handymen - we had to pay whatever their in-house price was.
At the end of the tenancy there was a dispute over us not leaving a bed at the property (the landlord's bed was removed at the start so we could bring our own), however as they had no proof to say we agreed to leave a bed we did not have to do this.

The letting agent tried to help but wouldn't take any action against the landlord. They were fine with all standard procedures.

Agent slow to make repairs, like waiting weeks for hot water and heating during winter, and blamed this on landlord not being available but I was ableto contact him and the agent hadn't tried.
Tried to add over £5,000 in fees on one statement, going back as far as 12 years without explanation. Went to court and judge threw their case out as they couldn't provide details.

Really helpful and responsive during viewings and moving in process. Genuine people, not money grabbers. Sometimes could be slightly slow to reply/communicate witb one another. e.g on move in day I was running late and rang the office to let them know, when I got to the property the agent on site hadn't been told. Overall still good though, never had any serious problems.

Agency just didn't get involved. I think the landlord was a thug, but they obviously didn't vet him or his property.

Northwood Liverpool are one to be avoided at all costs. 1 star given as can’t give 0.

Awful. Left carpets soaking when we moved in so whole house smelled bad. We had mice and they refused to do anything even though contract said it was their responsibility. Evicted us when I asked them to explain why we had to pay £600 to change the name on a contract.

If I could put 0 stars I would. This company has now moved to Epsom, and may have improved now, and before the manager we had there were no issues between tenant and agency. However upon checkout we were charged extortionate amounts for (among other things) cleaning (when we had already cleaned), rubbish removal (for rubbish we took with us!) And a repaint of the whole property (Some charges were waived). We found the lettings manager incredibly rude and unprofessional. It should be noted that this was a few years back so its possible the property has been given double glazing (I don't know) and the agents improved by now (I sincerely hope so) but this was an incredibly negative experience of renting for us, I hope we never have this again.

Northwood were the only agency I've had who made me feel like they realised that their 'product' was my home. They were respectful and conscientious about getting repairs done. I felt like they acted as my advocate to the landlord. When the landlord wanted us to pay for redecoration because of the damp damage, the letting agency realised we'd done everything that could be expected of us and more, and negotiated on our behalf.
