We actually had no idea who our landlord even was, we met her once when she came to the property and brought about 6 other people including children to sit and have tea in the living room (with no warning). She was always on holiday and we never had any communication with her.

There was also lack of communication, the agency changed half way through. The person we were supposed to contact kept changing which we only found out because he ignored our messages and then we got informed he wasn’t the one we contact anymore. When we contacted anyone about the house we would be ignored and it would take a while for a response. Our most recent agent was the best we had, she was quick to respond.
Also, when we arrived the house had been sold to a different agency and we weren’t informed. I was the first to get there and I told them the day and time I was coming however, it took ages for someone to let me in. Turns out they had sold it and because it was selling between agencies no one had bothered to clean it or anything so the house was in a horrific state when we got there to which I just burst out in tears. They did offer me a hotel to stay in while they sorted it though but obviously as a student who had come back really excited to live in a student house, I didn’t want to do this. Our deposits were also lost in the process as our property was sold between agencies I don’t even know how many times. We had to go to the university to get this sorted. We continued to live in this house for another year because we were comfortable and we liked our spacious rooms as that was a good part of the house but it was just a horrific place to live in. The shocking thing is this was an expensive house compared to other way nicer houses in Bangor. I do NOT recommend living here despite the good location.

The condition of the property was poor. There was a huge patch of damp on the wall in the living room with damp and mould all around the house which were just painted over. This was complained about several times throughout our two years there but was never sorted. There were holes and dents in the walls which were never fixed. The floorboards were coming up, the sofas were ripped and broken underneath. However, they did end up buying us a new sofa however it took a year for them to finally do it. There were stains on the countertops and paint coming off the walls and doors. There was almost no natural light in the living room, which looks nothing like the pictures. When things broke in the house it would take them ages to respond and sort the issue, very rarely would it be quick. For example, we had a broken bathroom light for the majority of our final year. Our oven broke and we were left for almost a month with a functioning oven. They did sort some things out over the summer such as the mould in the bathroom. However they said they had deep cleaned the place and when I got back there was dust everywhere however they still claimed they had but they obviously hadn’t. There was also a hole made in the bathroom wall when we got back which 100% was not us and looks like it was made with the end of a brush however they refused to admit it was them. Also, the top of the door frame (the bit that holds the fire door) actually fell on one of my housemates in which they had scratches on them however this could of ended up a lot worse than it did. We had leaks in our kitchen from the shower above a couple of times during our tenancy. A pipe also burst on the side of our property and water leaking for over 4 days which they were informed about straight away and took a long time to fix considering the amount of water it was wasting. We lost gas and heating a couple of times and our boiler would leak all the time, when someone came into fix it they broke the lid so then it ended up leaking even more causing mould etc on the kitchen counter. Even though we asked, this was never fixed either. One good thing was they hired cleaners to come and clean the property each week. However, this property was overall just horrific.

One of the main reasons we stayed there. Right between asda and morrisons. Near all the university buildings. A minute walk from the university club and train station. A few minutes walk from the high street.
