What an absolute joke. I'm not sure where to begin but I will do my best to really capture our experience. Firstly, on the initial signing the contract, we thought the landlord was quite rude and a bit dismissive of us. We put this down to our age (early 20's) and forgave the judgemental and frankly, arrogant approach to the letting process. Things only got worst for us. Whenever we had an issue this seemed to be our fault, we were in a constant battle to have our basic rights met (e.g. working heating, no one coming into the property, no black mould) and the landlord really knows how to manipulate and intimidate her tenants. We felt as if any request was not worth the hassle and rude interactions with the landlord so we priotised getting out as soon as we could. If I could go back now I would tell myself to run an absolute mile, one of the most stressful years renting experience we have so far.

The flat seemed nice when we first looked round, it had the charm and location factor was a big plus. When we moved in, the crack started to show. The property was freezing, none of the heaters worked so we bought our own, the bedroom was black mould growing and was exceedingly damp. The boiler had a dodgy smell coming from it which she told the landlord and she did nothing. The white goods were very dated and we struggled to get our clothes properly clean. The grounds had building work all through lockdown will really tested our patience, trying to work from home with constant drilling, loud music and builders letting themselves in to the property, the whole thing really tipped us over the edge.
