When we moved in, we were advised that the house had been deep cleaned. It was obvious to us that this was not the case, as the carpets were in a horrible state. We advised the agency of this, and nothing was ever done about it. My sister hired a carpet cleaner as a "new baby gift" before our son was born, and we cleaned all of the carpets ourselves. When we came to move out, and was astounded when they tried to deduct money from our deposit because of the carpets. They eventually claimed that we only told them about the living room carpets being unclean, and said they were charging us for the carpets in the rest of the flat, despite the fact that all the carpets were in the same state. They also tried to charge us for a call out charge, when my wife phoned up to cancel an appointment, because she had to take my son had to the doctors. That eventually got dropped, but they still took money off of us for the carpets.

The property is a two bedroom flat. It has night storage heaters and the electrics are out of date, lacking trip switches. The far corner of the living room has a recurring damp problem, which seems to be structural. The property comes fully furnished, and a lot of the furniture was damaged or worn out.

Area rating

Flat is located in a quiet cul-de-sac. We had problems a couple of times with noisy neighbours having late parties, but otherwise there was no problems. St James Park and Shirley high street are both a short walk away.
