the agency stressed that the reason for the delay in our repairs was because the landlady was refusing to put the effort in. we had a bath, so she didn’t seem to think a shower was necessary. she didn’t care that we were living in hazardous conditions until we wouldn’t pay rent. when they did come to do the shower they left rubbish in our garden. we wanted a dehumidifier which she provided but it didn’t work. she didn’t get our boiler checked before we moved in, so it got checked afterwards and then deemed unsafe to use, so we went a weekend without hot water in this freezing house. would not recommend.

they are really lovely people at Ashley Borne. the problem was getting our demands fixed. I had to wait over a month for a working shower to be put in - they only made the effort when I refused to pay rent. I cleaned up a lot of the mould myself when I moved in because it wasn’t getting done, but when they put the shower in they finally cleaned and repainted the mouldy walls. when our boiler was broken and the landlady refused to fix it instantly they gave us electric heaters which was nice.

there were 2 upstairs rooms and a ground floor bedroom. when I moved in, the wall hidden behind a wardrobe was covered in mould. it’s a very cold room. the whole house is damp so it’s freezing. the downstairs bathroom and kitchen were covered in mould when we moved in. but the house is quite nice apart from the damp.

the location of the house is very nice, it’s a little off the road so I felt safe, considering Selly oak has a lot of crime. local transport links and shops good.
